Through Moses, ADONAI first reveals the general stipulations for Isra’el to follow. They can be summarized as an encouragement to love and obey YHVH wholeheartedly. Building on the overview of Chapters 1-3 and his speech in Chapter 4, Moshe urges the Israelites to be loyal and obedient to the covenant. With broad strokes, Moses depicts the kind of character and conduct that the LORD expects from His chosen people.
