The ten horns are ten kings who will come from this Kingdom. DIG: How long does this stage continue? Why will it end?
This is the first of five events that will occur in the first half of the Great Tribulation. So the governmental system of the ten kings will start before the Tribulation begins and will continue on through the first half.
The one world government will eventually split up into ten kingdoms. The ten horns are ten kings who will come from this kingdom. In recent years there has been much speculation that the European Union (EU) will become these ten kingdoms. They would supposedly revive the old Roman Empire made up of ten European countries. But the Bible does not talk about the ten kingdoms in this way. It says that after the world falls under the control of the One World Government, then, and only then, does it split up into ten kingdoms. However, these ten kingdoms cover the entire world, not just Europe alone. At best the European Union might become one of the ten, but it could hardly become all of them. Beginning before the Great Tribulation, this Ten Kingdom Stage will continue until the middle of the Tribulation, and it will be the third birth pang.
