When People Say Peace and Safety,
Destruction Will Come Upon Them Suddenly
First Thessalonians 5: 1-3

When people say peace and safety, destruction will come upon them suddenly DIG: How will the world view the antichrist? Why? Why does this period need to come before the Great Tribulation? Why will the Jews trust the antichrist and sign a seven year peace treaty? What is its purpose? Safety for who?

The antichrist will seemingly be able to solve all the world’s problems. All the “hot spots” of the world will cool down and, for the first time, the entire earth will enter into a period of peace and safety. But this will merely be the calm before the storm. At the time when men and women in the Gentile world are talking about the remarkable peace and safety they are experiencing, the devastation of the Great Tribulation will hit the Gentile world with devastating force. The apostle Paul told the church in Thessalonica about this when he said: Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. Once again, the phrase the Day of the Lord is found, which is a reference to the Great Tribulation.

This fact will require this period of peace and safety to come just before the Great Tribulation itself. So while the world is under the ten kingdoms and the antichrist is rising to power, there will be a period of peace and false security. The Lord will unleash His wrath against an unrepentant world once the Great Tribulation begins. ADONAI will turn up the heat on the Jews and the Gentiles of the world. At that time they will either harden their hearts against Him, or break through their stubborn pride to accept Him. But either way, a decision will be demanded. Once again, the birth pain motif is found here. This will be the fifth birth pain leading to the Great Tribulation.

Dear Heavenly Father, How wonderful that You are! You are our strong tower. Adonai is a stronghold for the oppressed, a high tower in times of trouble (Psalms 9:10). For God is my strong tower – my God of lovingkindness (Psalms 59:18c). He alone is my rock and my salvation, my strong tower -I will not be moved. (Psalms 62:7). It is such a comfort to know that we can always run to You for protection. The Name of ADONAI is a strong tower. The righteous one runs into it and is set safely up high (Proverbs 18:10).  You have love and compassion for Your children (John 1:12, 3:3; Romans 10:9-10). As a father has compassion on his children, so Adonai has compassion on those who fear Him (Psalms 103:13).

It is totally Awesome that You live in those who love You, “And hope does not disappoint, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Ruach ha-Kodesh who was given to us” (Romans 5:5), and are always with Your children, For God Himself has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you,” (Hebrews 13:5). So thankful that Your living in Your children, gives them the righteousness of God (Second Corinthians 5:21) and because You, the Spirit of life, lives in Your children You can raise them from the dead into eternal life in glorious wonderful heaven (Revelation 21:4) with you!  You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Messiah does not belong to him. But if Messiah is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Ruach is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Yeshua from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Messiah Yeshua from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you (Romans 8:9-11). We love You! In the holy name of Your Son and the power of His resurrection. Amen
