The Science of a Young Earth
The Institute of Creation Research

To many people the battle going on today between the biblical worldview and the secular worldview pits the Bible against science. They ask, “Which is right, evolution or creationism?” But I believe that good science supports the Bible, and that they are not mutually exclusive. Those who oppose a God-centered worldview are desperate. They are desperate to embrace abortion and a woman’s “right to choose,” because if they believed that all the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be (Psalm 139:16), they would then have to be accountable to the LORD. And they cannot tolerate that because they are in rebellion. They are also desperate to embrace evolution for the same reason. If man evolved, then he is in control. But if man was created, then Elohim is in control, and He is the Master of the universe and one day they will be held accountable to a Holy God. The stakes are high in the young earth/creationism, and old earth/evolution, debate. Some believers, trying to account for dinosaur years, have tried to merge the two and say that evolution took place, but ADONAI guided that process. As I have tried to show, that view is contrary to the biblical account. In contrast to theistic evolution, the Bible teaches that in the beginning, Elohim created the heavens and the earth (1:1).

The Word of God is now, and has always been, scientifically reliable. When all the respected scientists of the world said the earth was flat, the Bible said that ADONAI sits enthroned above the circle of the earth (Isaiah 40:22).

The information I am about to present was given at a conference held at Shadow Mountain Community Church, San Diego, California on November 11, 2005 by the Institute for Creation Research called Thousands Not Billions. Presentations were made by the R.A.T.E. (Radioisotopes and the Age of the Earth) Team. I have tried as best I can, not to be too technical and to present the material in layman’s terms. The newest discoveries in carbon-14 dating, helium diffusion, radiohalos, and fission tracks prove scientifically that accelerated decay has taken place, and the earth is about 6,000 years old. Therefore, the biblical account of the creation week and the Flood is correct, and God is in control.
